Lorain County commissioners approve routine financial items, transfers and contracts

The Lorain County Board of Commissioners met Aug. 14 and approved a slate of routine financial and administrative items, including investment resolutions, appropriations, travel requests and a five-page bills packet.

A board member noted that the county is reinvesting funds at improved rates, observing that recent interest payments included amounts of "the 26,000 and the 83,000" as examples of payouts being reinvested. The investments resolution and the other routine fiscal motions were moved and approved by the commissioners present.

The board also approved two transfers requested by Job and Family Services to move funds from the public assistance fund to the Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) fund to cover state-match ceiling excesses and to support TANF-eligible and income-maintenance activities. The board approved an award of a stormwater contract for Martins Run lateral stream restoration to Marks Construction Inc., not to exceed $82,374.92, to be paid from the stormwater account.

In other business the board reappointed two members to the Lorain County Children Services Board and authorized the county prosecutor’s office to hold county credit cards (each not to exceed $2,500) for designated staff; the second prosecutor card was explained as separate bookkeeping for the general fund and the prosecutors’ special revenue funds. The meeting adjourned with no public comment.
