Big Spring School District previews summer 2026 building and grounds projects

Mrs. Lance, representing Big Spring School District administration, told the Building & Grounds committee the district reviewed its long-range capital and maintenance plan and identified priority projects for summer 2026. "The team has met. We've reviewed our master long range capital, maintenance plan to determine items for completion for this upcoming summer," she said, and emphasized that the list is at the preliminary planning stage and staff will return with updated prices.

Key items on the list included options for the stadium press box (replace on the visitor side or move to the home side), security-camera replacements for units 10 years or older, an auditorium lighting control board and relays to extend fixture life, sound-system replacement at Oak Flat Elementary, brick repointing at the middle school and Mount Rock, hot-water-heater updates, an adaptive playground at Oak Flat, intercom speaker upgrades and Cat6 cabling at the District Administration Building. Mrs. Lance said several items — including the press box and pool UV-light work — will require current pricing before the board votes on budget approvals.
