Superintendent Brian Rentsch presented a strategic consolidation plan proposing closure of the Claymont Intermediate School and reassignment of several grade levels for the 2026–27 school year. He recommended moving the 8th grade to the High School, 4th and 5th grades to the Middle School, and 3rd grade to the Elementary. The board was told a decision needs to be made by the end of March for the changes to take effect next school year.
The board scheduled a public forum on Monday, March 16 at 6 p.m. at the Middle School to answer questions and hear comments from staff and community members, followed by a special meeting on Tuesday, March 31 at 6 p.m. at the Administrative Office. No final vote on a building closure occurred at the March 9 regular meeting; the recommendation was presented for discussion and public feedback.
