The board opened its May 11 meeting with multiple commendations and donor acknowledgements. Ms. Campbell recognized the high-school and middle-school bands and Project Lead The Way winners Lane Wells and Kellen Renicker. Claymont Middle and High Schools received Purple Star designation; the minutes thanked Matt Shuman and Andrew Zimmerman for leading that effort.
Mr. Peters noted athletes were invited to help place flags at Union Cemetery for Memorial Day, and Mrs. Grandison thanked the Claymont Foundation for distributing $229,611 in scholarships to Claymont/Buckeye students, graduating seniors and alumni. The board also recorded donations supporting programs and the new digital sign.
