The Claymont City Board of Education on May 11 approved its April financial report, payment of bills and mid-year appropriation amendments and accepted two donations for a new high school digital board.
On a roll-call vote the board accepted a $5,000 donation from the Tusky VFW and $100 from the Dennison Rotary for the Claymont High School digital sign. Treasurer Kim Beckley presented the April financial report before the vote.
The board also adopted a formal resolution stating, in part, "no employee, officer, or agent of the District shall authorize, negotiate, or make any ransomware payment or otherwise comply with a ransom demand unless expressly approved by formal resolution of the Board of Education in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 9.64." The motion to approve the treasurer's recommendations, including the resolution, carried on roll call (Mrs. Host moved; Mrs. Grandison seconded).
Board President Mr. Peters and members emphasized routine financial oversight; the minutes record the approvals without further conditions. The district posted a video of the meeting to the Claymont City Schools website.
