The Board of Directors of Lane County School District 40 unanimously approved Superintendent Mike Johnson’s annual evaluation during its April 8 meeting, recording an overall score of 4.0 and describing his performance as "Highly Effective." Chair Kandice Lemhouse Worsham read the board's evaluation statement praising Johnson’s leadership, fiscal stewardship, and integrity.
In the statement the board said it was "pleased to share the results of Superintendent Johnson’s annual evaluation," noting his ability to listen, make meaningful adjustments, and strengthen trust across the district. The minutes cite the superintendent’s role in building progress at Creswell High School and in stewarding bond funds to support district projects.
Superintendent Mike Johnson responded, thanking the board for "a thorough evaluation process" and saying the score reflected collaborative district work; he also acknowledged ongoing challenges including state funding shortfalls and the need to find a new district leader as he prepares to retire at the end of the school year. The motion to approve the evaluation was moved by Mary Stayton, seconded by Tim Rogers, and carried unanimously.
