The Springfield Board of Education approved several personnel actions, curriculum adoptions and policy matters at its Dec. 15 meeting. Personnel approvals included approved hires (e.g., Helen Aguirre as elementary leave replacement at a salary of $62,147; Monique James as instructional aide at $23.62/hr plus a $1,250 stipend), resignations, and retirements (Rosalba Sanford and Alison Gillen effective July 1, 2026). Substitutes and before/after-school staff appointments were also authorized.
On curriculum, the board approved additions and revisions including Middle School Financial Literacy and new high-school courses: AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics, plus other mathematics and language-arts strategy courses. The board moved first- and second-reading policy items, adopting P 0173 (Duties of Public School Accountant), P 2422 (Statutory Curricular Requirements), and P 9180 (School Volunteers) on second reading. The committee packet also included professional development approvals and new Type C student clubs for the year.
