The Indian Hill Exempted Village Board of Education on March 17 voted to approve Dr. Melissa Stewart as the districts next superintendent, moving her from interim to a three-year contract beginning with the current school year.
Board discussion noted an extensive search and community input process that included eight student meetings, staff sessions, community meetings and a public profile of desired leadership traits. A board member made a motion to approve Stewart and the motion passed on a roll-call vote with all members present voting in favor.
Dr. Stewart, who has worked in the district since 2007, addressed the board after the vote. "I am so deeply honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next superintendent of Indian Hills Schools," she said, thanking teachers, staff and families and saying she will approach the role with a "servant leader mindset." She emphasized continuity and partnership with staff and families as priorities.
The board described the contract as a three-year agreement extending through the next school year. The motion to appoint was recorded during the meeting and the board proceeded to other agenda items after formal approval.
