The Vernonia SD 47J board voted March 4 to contract with GLS to carry out the district's search for a new superintendent. A board member moved to approve the contract and a second was recorded; Chair (S1) called the question and the motion carried.
"I move to enter into a contract with GLS for the purposes of conducting a search for a new superintendent," said a board member during the meeting. After the vote, Chair (S1) said, "Motion carries," and welcomed the GLS team.
The board and GLS agreed GLS would put an initial notice online immediately as a brief posting signaling the vacancy; more detailed job qualifications and a timeline will be established at a forthcoming planning meeting. Board members said the district expects a signed contract within about two weeks and that GLS will begin posting and recruiting upon contract execution.
