Superintendent (S2) told the board the district spent several weeks in staff professional development and gatherings to identify priorities and build a set of five culture "pillars" created with teacher input.
"We brought all of the data ... they were asked to look at the 5 pillars, identify 4 out of 5 that they really believed was the environment they wanted to work in and that they agreed to work in," Superintendent (S2) said, describing a process of mixed-staff groups, learning walks and follow-up planning.
The superintendent said the work ties to the district’s continuous improvement plan (SIP), MTSS interventions and 9th-grade-on-track strategies and includes a next step of placing vinyl displays across district buildings to make the pillars visible. Board members asked how the pillars will be sustained; the superintendent said administrators will integrate the pillars into meeting norms and PD and that principals will hold staff accountable through coaching and structured follow-ups.
Board members praised staff buy-in and asked for a copy of the final pillar language; the superintendent committed to providing the consolidated output and a timeline for implementation.
