Community Transition Program asks board to keep program at Silverton United Methodist Church

Staff from the district’s Community Transition Program delivered a public comment asking the board to permit the program to remain in its current leased space at Silverton United Methodist Church for the 2025–26 school year.

Beth Lau, speaking for the CTP staff, said the program serves adults with special needs by teaching job skills, building resumes and providing work experience. She read a letter asking the district to "respectfully request the opportunity to remain at Silverton United Methodist Church for the 2025 to 2026 school year," citing both financial and educational disruption that would follow a relocation and noting that Trinity Lutheran has offered supportive partnership and potential job-site collaboration.

Lau emphasized accessibility and continuity concerns: a new space would require accessibility modifications and would disrupt routines and community relationships that staff say are vital to students’ success. The board accepted the comment and thanked the presenters; no board action on the CTP facility was taken at the meeting, and staff indicated they would consider the request as budget and facility discussions continue.
