The Eden Central School District is negotiating an after‑school partnership with the YMCA for GLP and Eden Elementary, but Superintendent Serticio told the board that state approval is required and the timeline is uncertain.
“There's 0% chance of this being in place in September. I'm hoping for October, but it's more likely gonna be November,” Serticio said when describing the program's potential start date. Board members asked whether the district could run a temporary program without the YMCA; the superintendent said staffing constraints make an in‑house short‑term solution challenging but he will explore options if the board directs him to do so.
Board members discussed other providers (the Boys & Girls Club, KinderCare) and asked about logistics including use of cafeteria and classrooms. The administration said it will continue negotiating and keep the board informed; no vote or binding agreement was recorded at the meeting.
