The Helix School Board on Nov. 19 approved a contract with IMEG to prepare structural engineering specifications for seismic work at district facilities.
The motion to accept IMEG’s proposal was made by Todd Thorne and seconded by Bobby Corey; the measure carried 5–0. Superintendent Brad Bixler told the board IMEG had been awarded the RFQ and would schedule site visits this fall to complete design work tied to a seismic grant.
Bixler also updated trustees on recent facilities work: the practice‑gym fan was repaired and Gordon’s completed kitchen air‑conditioning repairs. He reported that Spencer Straub (IMEG) is completing 3‑D mapping of the main gym to support seismic design. The district has also rented storage for materials while the Ag Science/Welding shop project proceeds.
The packet reflected related capital planning and a recent instructional purchase: a $9,561.09 order from Zaner‑Bloser for supplemental K–5 math intervention materials, approved earlier in the superintendent’s report.
