Helix board accepts Budget Committee resignation, appoints Mindy Arnold; personnel updates given

The Helix School Board accepted the resignation of Shannon Peters from the district Budget Committee and approved appointing Mindy Arnold to the committee (motion by Friday Bracher; seconded by Bobby Corey). Peters resigned due to other obligations; Mindy Arnold indicated willingness to serve and the motion carried as recorded.
Superintendent Brad Bixler reported personnel changes and hires: prior to the holiday break Astoria Thornton and Parker Mize resigned, Bailey (Bailey) Sitts (referred to as Mrs. Sitts in materials) was selected as a top applicant and began as a full-time paraprofessional on Jan. 5; Hayley Buckey was hired to fill the position vacated by Parker Mize; JV volleyball and HS cross country coach postings were active. The district continues recruitment and hiring for several roles and thanked staff for transitions.
The board also noted that the Helix Charter School council had representatives in attendance to review the charter report and that enrollment and staffing continue to be monitored in preparation for the next school year.
