Board members discussed school discipline and teacher concerns on June 10 while evaluating a possible increase in classroom caps for 2026–27.
Board Chair Larry Parker and member Friday Bracher pressed for clarity on discipline policy and whether teachers uniformly follow referral procedures. Superintendent Brad Bixler said the district follows policy for extracurricular discipline and reported a decline in referrals, estimating "about 1 referral every four days." Brad also said the district cannot suspend elementary students and that he believed the system is improving for individual students. Board members nevertheless expressed dissatisfaction with staff feedback that discipline remains an issue and asked for continued work to find stronger approaches.
On classroom caps, board members said they would consult teachers and contact families by the end of the week with admissions decisions. The board signaled it could finalize caps via an email decision or by calling another meeting if necessary.
