The Helix School District Board of Directors on June 10 adopted the 2026–27 budget in the total amount of $12,178,002 and passed associated resolutions setting appropriations and property‑tax levies.
Board motions to adopt the budget and make appropriations were offered by Bobby Corey and seconded by Friday Bracher and carried with the three members present voting yea and two members absent. Kara Taylor, the district’s IMESD assistant business manager, summarized the district’s May receipts, noting a basic school support payment and other revenues that factor into the adopted figures.
The board passed a resolution imposing ad valorem taxes for 2026–27: a permanent rate of $4.5542 per $1,000 of assessed value and an amount of $345,000 for debt service on the district’s 2013 general‑obligation bonds. The board also approved a budget resolution moving $10,000 into Fund 200 (Title Grants) to reflect a Title IV‑A award that arrived after the original budget adoption.
"This motion, made by Bobby Corey and seconded by Friday Bracher, Carried," the meeting record states. The final adopted budget and related resolutions were signed by Board Chair Larry Parker and Superintendent/Budget Officer Brad Bixler and filed at the district office.
