Santa Rosa ISD board approves consent agenda including handbooks and higher meal allowance

The Santa Rosa Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a consent agenda of routine but consequential items at a special meeting on Aug. 7, 2025, voting 4-0 to carry the motion.

The approved consent agenda included: the 2025–2026 memorandum of understanding for the 21st Century Cycle 12 Year 3 with San Perlita and Santa Maria ISDs; the district employee handbook for 2025–2026; campus handbooks; the student code of conduct for 2025–2026; an updated compensation plan and stipends for the coming school year; and an increase to the meal allowance for students and staff. The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Kelly R. Ballin and seconded by Rene Flores; the record notes the motion carried 4-0.

Board action on these items implements routine operational policies and personnel-related documents the district uses to open the school year. The handbooks and code of conduct set expectations for staff and students, the compensation changes affect employee pay structure and stipends, and the meal-allowance increase applies to nutrition services for students and staff. The 21st Century MOU governs shared programming among nearby districts for the specified grant cycle.

No public comments were offered on the consent items at the meeting. The board took the approvals by roll-call motion and did not request further public input during the consent vote.
