A brief, standalone budget hearing for Seaside SD 10’s proposed 2026–2027 budget opened and closed without any members of the public offering comment, the board chair said.
"The board's role during public comment is not to immediately respond, but to listen," the board chair said, outlining the rules for the session and reminding speakers to be respectful. The chair set a three-minute limit per speaker and a 25-minute total allotment for the public-comment period, and directed complaints about personally identifiable staff to the administrative process in board policy KL (Public Complaints).
A budget committee member said the 2026–2027 proposal was reviewed by a budget committee that included seven budget committee members and seven board members, and that the committee met twice. "The budget committee approved the budget and, are passing it to the board, for adoption," the budget committee member said, indicating the next step is consideration by the full board at its regular meeting.
After a final call for speakers produced none, the chair closed the hearing and announced a short break while participants switched to a separate Zoom link for the regular board meeting, which was scheduled to begin in about five minutes.
