Doctor Aragon, the district curriculum presenter, told the board the district has increased student participation on state assessments and is tracking gains across grade bands. "Our 3rd graders at Vernon had a 95% participation rate," he said, and he noted the district's overall Regents passing rate in 2025 was 84 percent, up from 81 percent in 2024. Aragon said the district is analyzing cohort growth and question‑level results to target instruction.
Aragon outlined curriculum work completed over the summer and plans for 2025–26: a state‑approved arts portfolio graduation pathway, expanded AP offerings including a planned AP precalculus course, and pilots of instructional tools such as Magic School AI and Magma Math. He also described targeted supports — Wilson reading certification for additional teachers, a new PACE lab for students with disabilities, and a renewed RULER social‑emotional program — to connect assessment data to classroom practice.
