Public commenter highlights trustee training shortfalls; board posts training status

At the Oct. 21 meeting Melody Herrera told the board that "6 of the 7 trustees, including 3 of the current board officers, are deficient in the required training on evaluating student academic performance and setting goals." The public commenter urged immediate completion of required state trainings and called for higher transparency and standards from trustees.

The presiding officer subsequently read the State Board of Education continuing‑education rules and enumerated completion and deficiency statuses by training category (local orientation, Texas Education Code orientation, post‑legislative update, team building, additional hours, evaluation training, identifying/reporting abuse, and school safety). The transcript lists specific trustees as complete or deficient in those categories as of Oct. 15, 2025.
