Darlington board adopts agenda, enters closed session to discuss personnel

The Darlington Community School District Board convened a special meeting on July 7, 2026. Board President Bob Hermanson called the meeting to order at 4:50 p.m.; Superintendent Cale Jackson acknowledged public notice and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Board members present included Bryson, Crist, Fink, Hermanson, Riechers and Stauffacher; administration present included Superintendent Cale Jackson, Austin and Flanagan.
Board member Stauffacher moved, and Board member Crist seconded, to adopt the agenda "as presented." The motion carried, and later in the agenda Stauffacher moved, seconded by Riechers, to go into Closed Session under Wisconsin Statutes 19.85(1)(c) to discuss personnel matters involving administrative employees and administrative contracts; the minutes record the motion as carried unanimously. The closed‑session topics listed for discussion were: compensation of a staff member; an Ag teacher candidate; a DEMS art teacher candidate; a high‑school secretary candidate; a summer custodian candidate; and a maintenance technician candidate. The board returned to open session later in the meeting and took action on a subset of those items.
