A participant identified as Mr. Hoesly updated the board on the Apple Orchard project and thanked Karen Wiltrout for a contribution to the music department. He said additional 'retirement' trees are being planted and that a grant application has been submitted to a national fruit-tree organization. President Ted Alberson asked whether trees planted in a corner might obstruct visibility; Mr. Hoesly said they are unlikely to block views and noted plans to add wood chips for maintenance.
District Administrator Mark Stamper discussed the possibility of relocating the orchard to the old garden area to address appearance and maintenance. Board member Laura Dutter-Nelson recommended starting a horticulture program through Community Education. The discussion recorded appreciation for Mr. Hoesly’s efforts and identified next steps around maintenance and potential program development.
