The Watonga Board of Education voted unanimously Aug. 6 to declare Board Seat #3 vacant and to review previous applicants in executive session at the Board’s regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026. Board member Aaron Clewell made the motion, which was seconded by Board member Courtney Nagel; the motion passed 4-0 with votes recorded for Clewell, Dwight McGee, Courtney Nagel and President Mayra Flynn.
The motion specified that the board would "review previous Board applicants in the Executive Session at Monday, August 10, 2026 regular meeting and name a Board Member for Seat #6 following Executive Session and said Board Member to be sworn in at that time." The action establishes a timeline for filling the vacancy and indicates the appointment decision will follow an executive-session review of applicants. After the appointment motion, the board approved a motion to adjourn; the special meeting began at 11:00 A.M. and ended at 11:10 A.M.
