Williamston board hears bond project timelines; softball complex due spring 2026

Dr. Adam Spina, superintendent, told the Williamston Board of Education on Oct. 6 that multiple bond projects are advancing and provided timelines and design previews. He said the Mary Marshall Tennis Facility is open and that the new softball complex is on track to be completed in March or April 2026.

Spina outlined next steps for other bond work, saying flooring options for the middle and high schools are being studied with installation intended for summer 2026, and that bids to purchase band instruments are being prepared. He also presented exterior renderings of the new Explorer Elementary showing design, colors, and traffic patterns for walking and driving. "There was high energy and great amount of school spirit all across the District," Spina said in a recap of recent school events that accompanied the project update.

Board members asked clarifying questions about timelines and logistics; Spina responded to those questions during the presentation. No formal action was taken on bond items at this meeting; several items will appear on the Oct. 20 agenda for possible action or continued review.
