Superintendent Beth Burton and building administrators presented routine operational reports at the Feb. 11 Stanfield School Board meeting covering attendance, assessment data and athletics.
Lacey Sharp reported elementary attendance and Reading/Math diagnostic data. Blaine Braithwaite reported secondary attendance, student successes and round two MAP testing results; when Board Member Karen Johnson asked whether district scores were above the state average, Braithwaite said, "in reading we are." Lorena Woods provided the Dean of Students report on discipline data and referrals and gave an athletic update: the Blue Mt. Conference district basketball tournament will be broadcast on HUDL, current boys and girls basketball rankings were shared, the Booster Bash is scheduled for Feb. 14 at EOTEC, and high school spring athletics' first official practice is March 2; schedules for baseball, tennis and track were included in her report.
Board members offered positive comments: Cecili Longhorn praised an elementary school article and thanked Lacey Sharp; Nikki McCann said, "I love the Einstein Race — it seems like the kids are so engaged," and Scott Morris noted the value of having data to understand district performance.
