Lindsay ISD highlights student recognition, events and operational updates

District administrators used the Sept. 17 meeting to share school activities and operational updates. Elementary Principal Tawni Smith reported that Grandparents Day attracted over 300 attendees and named Michelle Biermacher as the September Star Polisher; she also announced Fire Safety Week on Oct. 6 and that GT nominations are due by Oct. 4. Secondary Principal Brett Phipps said homecoming activities are taking place this week and noted positive feedback on the new UIL period.

Athletics updates (Coach Jones was not present) included volleyball wins over Gunter and Nocona, early football results and improved cross‑country participation; the district will host a cross‑country meet next week and the baseball field is scheduled for repair next week. Technology Director James Moats said staff are identifying IT needs for the new building and that the new weight room will not interfere with Wi‑Fi to the press box. Transportation Director Tom Huston reported that bus rider numbers have increased, that bus #9 is awaiting a resettable fuse to complete an A/C compressor repair, and that an agricultural truck has a broken door opener.
