Planning commission approves Midtown event center application

The Auburn Planning Commission on Aug. 13 approved a conditional‑use request to operate the Celebration Event Center in an existing Midtown commercial unit at 1000 Main Street, Suite B.

Planner (presenting the case) told commissioners the applicant proposed private events such as birthday parties, bridal showers and small gatherings in a 1,200‑square‑foot space. Applicant Kyle Linkson, of 843 West Richland Circle, said the business would operate generally from about 10 a.m. to 9–10 p.m. and would not sell alcohol on site; he said alcohol would be provided only by third‑party vendors when appropriate. "We're not doing music festivals or anything like that crazy," Linkson said.

Commissioners asked whether the facility had a posted maximum capacity and whether inspections had been completed. Planning staff said inspections had checked bathrooms and other life‑safety items. After brief discussion about operations and hours, Commissioner (mover) made a motion to approve KCU2026029, and a second followed; the commission voted in favor.

The approval allows the operator to continue event business at the second Midtown location subject to normal building and safety requirements and any liquor licensing rules enforced by the Alabama ABC if the operator applies for on‑site sales in the future.
