Council authorizes pilot RFP for 4x4 corporate sponsorships, extends response window through Jeep Safari

The Moab City Council authorized staff to issue a pilot RFP seeking corporate sponsorships, with initial focus on the 4x4/motorized-vehicle sector to keep the applicant pool manageable. City attorney Nathan Brackett presented the draft and emphasized the item was intended as a pilot and could be adjusted after the council sees proposals. Council members debated scope, potential exclusivity, whether to allow multiple sponsors, and the appropriate timeline for outreach. "Running the RFP as a pilot makes a lot of sense because we just don't even know what we're gonna get necessarily," council member Caitlin said.

Council settled on a direction to modify the RFP dates so the application window runs through the Easter Jeep Safari (staff and attorney to finalize exact dates), to have staff and the city manager finalize remaining schedule details, and to return proposals for council consideration in the second meeting in April. The motion to approve the RFP as drafted with those date and schedule adjustments passed 4-0. Council members said they want the review criteria and an evaluation committee identified (staff proposed a committee including the city manager and others, with a recommendation returned to the full council).
