Board approves routine items; road paving, weed control and records updates reported

The Shelby County Board voted to approve routine business early in the meeting — the agenda, Oct. 7 minutes and claims were approved in separate motions with 'Aye' votes recorded. The Secondary Road Department presented a right-of-way permit for Farmers Mutual Telephone Company and asked the board to accept it; the board approved the motion.

Chris Richardson reported that "as of Sunday late afternoon, everything South of Highway 44 to Shelby has been paved out," describing progress on the M16 pavement project and noting shoulders and final striping remain. The recorder reported a slight revenue dip from stamps and mortgages and confirmed the office can print birth certificates from 1984 forward. An EMS representative said new inlets and a Type 1, 4WD truck are in service and that the department ran 380 calls in the first quarter of the fiscal year.
