Cross Lakers and parks director preview kiosks and interactive trail map

Jonathan Grothe of the Cross Lakers updated the council on a wayfinding kiosk project that will deploy double-sided, weatherproof kiosks with maps, donor recognition bands and QR codes linking to chamber and city event information.

"The maps and the kiosk design have been finalized and are soon to be in, constructed," Jonathan said, describing three kiosk locations: in front of the community school, along County Road 3 and (after Loon Center work) near Swan Drive. He said the kiosks will identify restaurants, public restrooms, sidewalks and trails, and will include walking-time graphics.

Parks and recreation director TJ Groman demonstrated an interactive trail feasibility website designed to gather public feedback. "This is gonna be launched to the public...you can click on different sections and drop an actual comment," TJ said, adding the tool will let planners identify missing connections and unsafe crossings and gather community preferences for shared-use trails.

No council action was required on the kiosk update; staff said installations will proceed where concrete and benches are ready and that final placement near the Loon Center will follow that project's construction schedule.
