Planning Commission approves conditional-use requirements for 454 South Main Street

The Markesan Planning Commission approved requirements for a conditional use application for 454 South Main Street after reconvening on July 29, 2026. A motion by Talma, seconded by Lager, to approve the conditional use application requirements carried at the July 29 session.

The commission also requested that the Chief of Police meet with the applicant to discuss a security plan and prepare a draft of the Conditional Use Permit requirements discussed at the meeting. The instruction to the police was recorded as a direction from the commission during the July 22 proceedings and reiterated when the commission reconvened. The meeting record shows the commission took formal action to adopt the application requirements but did not record a roll-call vote tally in the minutes.

Chairperson Rich Slate called the original meeting to order at 5:00 PM on July 22 and a procedural motion by Talma, seconded by Dolgner, to adjourn and reconvene at 6:00 PM on July 29, 2026 at the City Council Chambers was carried before the commission paused and later finished consideration of the conditional use matter. With no further business after approving the requirements, Chairperson Slate adjourned the reconvened meeting at 6:35 PM. The minutes were submitted by Rich Slate, Chairperson.
