The Nespelem School District Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Superintendent Effie Dean and another staff member following an executive session for personnel under RCW 42.30.110.
Board Chair Jolene Marchand moved the board into executive session at 2:58 p.m.; the session ended at 4:25 p.m. After returning to open session, board member Nancy Armstrong-Montes moved that “Effie Dean’s resignation be accepted.” The motion and related personnel motions carried. The board also accepted the resignation of Areanna Burke and approved Melanie Herndon to serve as Front Office Coordinator with coordinator pay (PSE). The board approved creating or filling a full-time high-school athletic director position for the 2026–27 school year.
The personnel actions were taken in closed session; the board reported the outcomes in public session. No roll-call vote totals by member were recorded in the minutes. The board scheduled follow-up work to begin hiring for the approved full-time athletic-director slot and to manage transitions resulting from the accepted resignations.
