Superintendent Krista Nieraeth reviewed SCTC's request to amend the district's wireless site agreement to allow use of a tower on district property to support future 5G service, with Verizon discussed as a potential carrier. The amendment would provide four devices to the district for staff use so employees would not need to use personal phones for district business. Ms. Nieraeth said the proposal includes materials addressing health concerns and that the tower would be designed to fit the environment.
Lynda Harrington moved to approve the April 3, 2026 Amendment to the Wireless Site Agreement; Melissa Allison seconded and the motion passed 5-0. The board recorded no additional conditions in the minutes and directed that more information on health concerns would be provided to the community.
