The Santiam Canyon School Board appointed Doug Cole to fill a vacant board seat during its Feb. 11 regular meeting following interviews with three applicants.
Mr. Anderson moved to appoint Doug Cole; Mrs. Allison seconded and the motion passed 4-0. Ms. Nieraeth administered the oath to Doug Cole, who then joined the board at the table.
The interviews of Jonathon deRenzo, Leah Chapin and Doug Cole were conducted during the meeting; the board thanked all applicants for applying. No substantive public comment or debate on the choice was recorded.
The board also declared a separate vacancy for the district budget committee and said it expects to appoint that member at the March meeting; the budget committee term begins July 1, 2025 and runs through June 20, 2028.
