Santiam Canyon board adopts slate of second‑read policies

At its March 11 meeting the Santiam Canyon School Board completed second readings and approved a set of district policies covering nondiscrimination, board conduct, policy development and several student‑centered policies. The approved policy codes included AC (Nondiscrimination and Civil Rights), BBF, BC/BCA, BF, BFCA, BFD, BFG, GBN/JBA and related JBA/GBN items, JEA (Compulsory Attendance), JFE (Pregnant and/or Parenting Students), JGAB (Use of Restraint or Seclusion) and the deletion of JHFCA (Student Skateboard/Rollerblade/Scooter Use).
Mr. Anderson moved to approve the policies listed under agenda item 7.2; Mrs. Allison seconded and the motion carried, 4-0. Ms. Nieraeth reminded the board that these items had been through a first read at the previous meeting. The board also reviewed several administrative regulations (ARs) for information only and noted ARs are operational implementation details rather than board-adopted policy.
Board minutes indicate the board took no abstentions and no further staff direction was recorded on the policies beyond acceptance.
