Board Member Carl Anderson moved to approve the policies under Agenda Item 7.1 and Mrs. Harrington seconded; the motion passed 5-0. Board and staff discussion focused on how unused sick leave is handled (the district has not historically paid out unused sick leave) and the documentation required after five consecutive sick days. Mrs. Cooper noted the district reports unused sick leave to PERS but does not pay it out.
The approved items included DJ (District Purchasing); EBBB (Injury or Illness Report); EFA (Local Wellness); GBEB (Communicable Diseases in Schools); the deletion of GBEBA (Staff - HIV, AIDS, and HBV); GCBD/GDBD (Sick Leave - Personal Illness and Injury Leave); and GCDA/GDDA (Criminal Records Checks and Fingerprinting). Ms. Nieraeth confirmed the dollar amount referenced in Policy DJ as listed was correct. The board voted unanimously to adopt the listed policies at second reading.
