Cascade superintendent returns; board asks for annual staffing-to-student ratio report

Superintendent Darin Drill returned to the dais at the Feb. 9 Cascade School District No. 5 board meeting and submitted a written superintendent’s report highlighting that student enrollment is slightly ahead of last year, primarily at Cascade High School and Aumsville Elementary. Drill also noted a February 4 financial forecast that left the district in a relatively stable position and said most districts will avoid midyear budget cuts this year.

Board Chair Brett Stegall asked for a formal annual report showing staff-to-student ratios to be provided each January, ideally covering a five- to ten-year timeframe. Drill said he would look into adding the request to the district’s annual reporting list and provide the requested report at the March board meeting. Finance Director Wang and staff members were thanked for their work while Drill was on leave.
