The Lansingburgh Central School District Board of Education on March 23 unanimously found a proposed Lansingburgh High School and Knickerbocker Middle School improvement plan to be a Type II action under the State Environmental Quality Review Act, removing the need for further SEQRA review.
Board members reviewed a Short Environmental Assessment Form and materials from the district’s architects and engineers. The proposed project includes new secure vestibules and office renovations, electrical, mechanical and plumbing upgrades, replacement of the existing synthetic turf field within the running track, running track drainage improvements, stadium scoreboard, timing and sound system upgrades, and related athletic-field equipment replacement. The board cited 6 NYCRR Part 617.5 (Type II criteria) in its determination.
Following the SEQRA determination the board unanimously approved a resolution to place a capital-project proposition before district voters at the annual meeting on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The proposition authorizes reconstruction, renovation and improvements, acquisition of original furnishings and equipment, and issuance of bonds or notes in an amount not to exceed $4,050,000, with taxes to be levied in annual installments as determined by the board and taking state aid into account. Board member Michael Drinkwine offered the motion and it carried 9–0.
The board directed the District Clerk to include notice of the proposition in the annual meeting materials; the district will provide further informational materials to voters in advance of the May vote.
