County readies Madison Valley Manor kitchen: hazardous-materials testing, manager contract on next agenda

County staff reported that hazardous-materials testing for the Madison Valley Manor kitchen project will begin this week as part of preconstruction precautions.

"We're beginning hazardous materials testing this week," the staff member said, noting the step is precautionary so future discoveries during construction can be compared to baseline findings.

Staff said the county plans to place a contract naming Jackson as construction manager on the next Tuesday agenda, but that they are still waiting for guidance from USDA Rural Development on whether specific contract language must be included. "We were well, we still are waiting for rural development from USDA to get back on whether there was a specific language that they wanted to include it," the staff member said.

Staff also reported that certification needs related to a gas-line change and a likely replacement of the existing exhaust hood were already accounted for in the project budget. Commissioners did not take a formal vote during the work session; staff indicated these items will return for formal procurement action next week.
