Parowan readies America's Potluck events and celebrates community garden progress

Council and staff outlined local programming for the America250 celebrations and shared an update from community garden volunteers.

Events: staff previewed America250 programming and said Parowan will host an America's Potluck option on July 5 with multiple participation formats (traditional potluck at Library Park, linger-longer church gatherings, neighborhood block parties, or small-host alternatives). The council also described a community fireworks-viewing event at the fairgrounds with live music and said decorative bunting and storefront efforts are planned.

Community garden: a garden volunteer reported the community garden has completed fencing and planter boxes, and volunteers recently planted about 20 tomato and pepper plants along with corn and other seeds. "We've also put in all of the planter boxes. Now ... we planted about 20 tomatoes and that many pepper plants," the volunteer said. The council encouraged volunteer recruitment, noted an audit walk on June 24, and staff said the city will post tool needs and promote youth involvement.
