Superintendent Martin Moore told the board the district is monitoring several reduction scenarios circulated by the Oregon Department of Education and OSBA that model cuts of 1% to 5%. He emphasized these are planning renditions and not final decisions, and said the legislature will make funding decisions after an economic forecast due this week. "It's not what's gonna happen... the legislature is the 1 that will decide where those kick downs are," Moore said, urging the board that the district will plan but not make immediate cuts.
Moore also provided operational updates: current enrollment was reported at 1,544 students (down by 4 from last month), and facilities staff have prepared for winter with ice melt, snowblowers, insulation and blown-out water lines. He described greenhouse roof panels damaged in a recent windstorm (28-year-old panels) and plans to replace half this year and the remainder next year; the closest vendor is in Portland, and Moore plans to haul panels back with a district truck and trailer to reduce shipping costs.
