The Milton-Freewater Unified School District 7 board moved to accept the district's Student Investment Account (SIA) allocation of $3,400,000 and approved the acceptance by voice vote. Superintendent Martin Moore explained that while the SIA funds are already included in the district budget, Oregon’s process requires a formal board acceptance so the state can release the dollars.
"Our SIA grant, is, $3,400,000," Moore said during his report and recommended accepting the allocation; a motion to accept was moved, seconded and the transcript records the motion carried by voice vote. Moore and board members noted the state has circulated multiple 'reduction renditions' and that acceptance does not itself change current budgeting — the district will continue to monitor legislative developments and an economic forecast due this week.
