District Business Manager Denyce Kelly presented the fiscal overview and reviewed the proposed budget documents at the April 27 Milton-Freewater Unified SD 7 budget hearing.
Kelly explained the district is again down in student enrollment, a trend she described as statewide, and reviewed the budget packet and assumptions with the committee. The minutes record that Kelly "went over all the documents with the committee and answered any questions." The presentation preceded the scheduling of the continuation hearing.
Presiding Officer Sarah Zessin presented and the committee approved the budget calendar. "The continuation of the Budget Hearing will be held , Monday, May 18, 2026 at Freewater School at 6:30 pm," the minutes state. There were no public comments during the session, and the meeting was recessed at 7:45 p.m.
Committee deliberations will pick up on May 18, when staff are expected to bring the full proposed budget packet for further review and potential adjustments.
