Ami Muilenburg presented the district’s special education report, saying that on Dec. 1, 2025 there were 214 students enrolled in the special education program. Since that benchmark the district has added 11 students and received four additional referrals.
Muilenburg told the board that while the total special education student count is down compared with last year, the level of need per student has increased, placing different demands on services and staff. The board did not take formal action; staff will continue to track referrals and caseload changes.
