Dr. Yanni, the district superintendent, opened the meeting by thanking the community for approving the 2025–26 school budget, saying, "Your vote of confidence enables us to continue our mission of empowering all students to achieve excellence." The superintendent also congratulated James Ricard on his recent election to the Board of Education.
Dr. Yanni announced a $15,000 donation from Nancy Sirianni and Bruce Shulin to fund two seniors' scholarships (named in honor of their mother). He also outlined a state‑driven change taking effect July 1: the district will appoint a high school student as an ex officio, non‑voting board member for a one‑year term selected by the high school principal and approved by the superintendent. That student will not count toward quorum, will not attend closed executive sessions, will not have voting privileges and will serve primarily to report on student activities, Dr. Yanni said.
