The Greenwood 52 School Board voted to approve a resolution authorizing the issuance of a $650,000 general obligation bond to pay for capital projects across the district.
Attorney Ben Ziegler told the board the district will use surplus sinking‑fund proceeds and that state law requires issuing a bond to apply those funds to capital projects. “The item before you … is a resolution authorizing the issuance of a $650,000 general obligation bond by the district,” he said, listing classroom furniture for the primary and elementary schools, digital marquees for all schools, PA systems and bus‑lot improvements as uses.
Ziegler said the short‑term bond will mature in March and will carry only a negligible amount of interest. He said the issuance will not impose additional taxes because the bond will be paid from funds already on hand. The board considered bids to be taken in the coming week and expected to close in early December.
A motion to approve issuance of the bond was made and approved by voice vote. The board did not provide a roll‑call tally in the transcript; the chair declared the motion approved.
Next steps include taking bids and closing the financing; administrators said any leftover proceeds could be redirected to other capital projects on return to the board.
