Edgewood Middle School students were recognized by the District 52 Board of Trustees after finishing near the top at the statewide Beta Club competition. A technology team including Tucker Bell, Matthew Allen, Ferris (Farris) Spearman, Jude Burgesson, Reed Wilson and Zeb Rush finished second overall in the state.
"This was our, 2nd place team, and they finished 2nd overall in the state," the school's presenter said while calling the students forward. Individual students also placed: Josie Winburn took third in painting, Tommy Leach placed third in U.S. history and Aidan Sims finished second in social studies. Board members congratulated the students and noted the team may have the opportunity to compete at nationals in Nashville if they qualify.
