The board approved recommending Design Group Incorporated Architects and Planners to provide design services for South High School Phase 7, a project administration described as a $3,200,000 package covering construction and associated "soft" costs.
"This is a $3,200,000 project," the presenter said, explaining the RFQ process produced 11 responses, a shortlist of three, and interviews that included South High School representation. Administration said the selected firm will negotiate a contract and return to the board for approval of the contract terms.
Presenters detailed that the phase will complete unfinished areas from earlier packages — locker rooms, a receiving area, restrooms and improved wayfinding — and estimated a schedule to finish construction work by the end of the next calendar year. Board members praised the functional improvements, including a proposed receiving area and family restrooms to support athletics and theater uses.
If the board’s recommendation stands, the next step is contract negotiation and a return to the board for final contract approval.
