The Raton Board of Education approved a requisition to J3Systems to address the Raton High School gym roof by a 4-0 vote. Board member Ted Kamp moved to approve the requisition; Secretary Brenda Ferri seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Mr. Kamp said he is concerned about the longevity of flat roofs and asked that the architects researching the new school consider roofing type and pitch. Superintendent Kristie Medina said multiple layers of research will be done before a roofing system is selected for the new building and offered to connect Mr. Kamp with the architects.
