Staff member Deia Starr told the board that the district has had recent problems enforcing electronic-device rules and specifically flagged Meta glasses and smart watches as problematic during testing season. Starr said Meta glasses can be difficult to detect and can record at any time, creating both privacy and test-security risks.
Superintendent Kristie Medina said the district sent a notice to families via ParentSquare prohibiting those devices during school hours and that the board offered support for any needed policy changes. Board members said enforcement is particularly challenging on days with many substitute teachers.
